MyRaceRagz.com Review and Giveaway

**Disclaimer: MyRaceRagz.com provided me with a custom shirt for review and one free giveaway. All opinions are my own and not those of MyRaceRagz.com.**

Being active means having the right gear. Living in Florida, we have hot and humid summers. It’s best to wear dri-fit style clothing to keep sweat and moisture off your body. Since I am active in both paintball and running, I like to wear shirts that suit both purposes, on and off the field. And I recently had the chance to order a custom shirt from MyRaceRagz.com to try out.

When designing my shirt, I decided to go with a long sleeve shirt. I have many sleeveless and short sleeve shirts, and decided a long sleeve would be nice for when it finally cools off. MyRaceRagz.com offers men’s and women’s short sleeve, tank tops, and long sleeve. All materials are light weight.

The website and ordering process is very user-friendly. Whether you use a stock design or have your own, you can easily customize your shirt in minutes. I went the custom route, using my own blog logo. MyRaceRagz.com will even tell you when the images you upload are not good quality based on the size you are trying to use. In addition to the logo on the front, I also did a nickname and number on the back of the shirt in football style.

After ordering my shirt, it arrived in about a week. I ordered a 2X and feel that it was very true to size. This shirt will be perfect for both running and playing paintball in.

Great day at the field

Yesterday I decided to dust the cobwebs off the paintball gear, clean the cleats and head out to the paintball field for a few hours of play with some friends. We all decided to meet up at RumbleWoods Paintball in Tampa to just shoot a few paintballs and have a few good laughs with the gang. The day seemed to go fast and you could tell by the way I was playing that I hadn’t been out since the last time we all participated in the Zombie game back in October. As the day progressed so did my play and it felt like I hadn’t taken any time off, which was a great feeling for me. The best part of the day happened to be meeting new players in which we share the same passion which would happen to be paintball.

The guys were out for fun as well but were getting in their last few games before they all pack up and head for Ocala. In December, paintballers from all over head to Ocala for Wayne’s World Grand Finale and it is truly an event I wish I could attend but alas I have to work and am unable to attend. As we left the field I couldn’t help but feel a bit sad. Sad knowing that this is probably the last time I’ll get to play for a bit but also sad that I won’t be attending Wayne’s World’s Grand Finale this year. It’s truly an event I’ve waited for all year but once again I’ll be sitting on the sidelines. Best of luck to all who will be attending, all who attend generally have a great time.

Couch to 5K Week 8 Wrap Up

Sorry for the delay but week 8 is officially in the books and wow what a week it was. In addition to my Couch to 5K training the wife is doing some half marathon training which has gotten me some extra time in. While I’ve had my routine runs according to the app there has also been a Sunday morning addition to the routine. The wife’s training has brought her 6, 7 and even 8 mile runs on Sundays but I’m unable to complete those so I’ve been riding along. I feel as if the additional training on the bike has helped a bit with my endurance and overall performance.

Days 1 and 2 brought me 28 minutes of run time, which I’m happy to report I was able to run about 25 of it. I did have to stop a few times to take a quick water break but overall I ran a majority of it. Day 3 on the other hand brought me 30 minutes of running of which I was able to run approximately 28 of the 30. I once again did have to stop a few times, but this was for a water break and to catch a quick breath or two.

Overall I’ve been really happy with the Couch to 5K program so far and I have one workout left. My last workout I must do in order to complete my Couch to 5K program is run a 5k. I’ll be doing that this week as well as trying to establish a regular running schedule. I feel the regular schedule will help me maintain and improve on the 8 week training I’ve done so far as well help my cardio progress so I can see changes in my performance on the paintball field.

How far along are you with your training? How do you hope this training will help you?

The Time is Near ….. PSP World Cup

P4L_logo w TM

The time is near for PSP World Cup at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida. This time next week I’ll be swarming the vendors to see what free giveaways they have as well as getting to put my hands all over the latest merchandise in the world of paintball. I’ll also get to sit back and watch some of what I predict to be the best matches of the year. While I’m most excited to watch the Pro games I also have a few friends playing in some of the other divisions and I’ll get to watch as well.

I’m most excited about seeing what new products all the paintball vendors are bringing to the table. From what I’ve seen so far I wish I had won the lottery because I’ve seen quite a few new products I’d like to add to my gear bag. While I’m not quite sure where my first stop will be, I plan on at least hitting Dye, Empire, Ninja Paintball, Virtue, Valken as well as GI Sports to check out a few things on my “Christmas Wish list”. What… I’ve been good this year (for the most part).

I’ll also be dropping by Social Paintball to check out some new products as well. If all goes well I may even end up walking away with a new pair of “Grit” paintball pants. From what I’ve seen online I like them so far but I’m much more of a visual person so we shall see. Their booth is all packed with a lot of merchandise and I’ve never gotten out of there without finding something that I’ve been wanting.

Next on my list is a trip to see the guys from Trade My Gun. I met the guys a few years back and I’ve got to tell you they are definitely on my must see agenda. Every year I’ve gone to PSP World Cup I’ve always managed to work out a deal on some gun that I’ve always wanted as well as sell off a few that I rarely use. They guys are always funny and if you catch them at the right time make some really killer deals that you’d never believe.

One of my usual stops is at the Valken tent. I’m usually there to see Kelly and the gang plus check out any new gear as I look for that awesome deal I just can’t pass up. Ninja Paintball is also a must stop so I can check out the 2013 Breast Cancer Awareness tank which I may have to actually purchase this year. I’ve looked them in the years past and always seem to want one.

While I’ll obviously be rooting for Tampa Bay Damage to win I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all the teams that have traveled from both near and far safe travels and the best of luck. Just the fact that you’re there to be a part of one of the biggest events in paintball should be a victory in itself. The win wouldn’t hurt that much either, but making new friends from all over the world. For those who can’t make it you can always follow my Twitter, Facebook, or even Instagram which I’ll include links to below. I’ll try to send out updates and new product pictures all day long, plus any other interesting things that I see happen at PSP World Cup.

Finding your Zen

While running this morning I found myself thinking about my next blog post and then it came to me “Find your Zen” would be perfect. The weirdest part is it came to me while I was running, there are so many times I struggle with what to write next and out of nowhere Zen appears. While everybody’s Zen is different the end result will be the same. The meaning of Zen for me is finding my happy place or activity that you love to do and removes any thoughts or cares, but allows you to live in the moment. As weird as this sound my Zen place would be playing paintball (minus the drama that’s sometimes associated with it). I’ll have to admit another Zen place of mine is yoga, while I don’t get to go often enough I do enjoy my visits to Hot Yoga 365 and the relaxation it brings to me both physically and mentally.

Ask anyone what their Zen place is and I’m sure you’ll get a variety of answers. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt the wife’s Zen place is running. She’s told me before that when she runs she tends to forget anything and everything and just enjoy the run. Her disconnect from anything and everything is what makes running her Zen place. I’ve had others tell me running, graphic design, yoga and even charity are their places of Zen. While there is no right or wrong everyone has their own idea of Zen and where it is.

With this being said I challenge you, Think about it and consider what would be your Zen place. Then make it happen, your Zen place may just be enough to help you forget about this crazy world for a bit and enjoy life.

Where is your Zen place? Do you go there often enough?

Cleaning after paintball

I love playing paintball but the one thing I despise is cleaning the day after. Cleaning the guns, lubing them and checking all the o-rings is usually a several hour process for me as I’ll tear the gun completely down. The other thing I guess I would despise if I had to do it was the clothes, luckily the wife takes care of that for me so it’s one less thing to deal with. At the end of the day I know the object is not to get hit and you should come home with no paint on you. In a perfect world that may happen, but usually not in mine as I’ll come home with some sort of paint on me. This outing’s color that I came home with was pink, yes you heard me I said pink. While I don’t mind the pink fill it’s usually in the middle grade paint which is usually a thicker fill and sometime tends to stain, but it’s easy to see who is hit. So as you’re setting back enjoying your Sunday, think of me as I’ve got my entire dining room table covered in paintball guns torn apart and getting ready for my next day of play.

Do you have any hobbies that require maintenance after the fact? How long does it normally take to complete and get ready for your next outing?

Little White Lie Follow-up

For those who read my last blog post “Little White Lie” I had promised a follow up so here it is. Early Saturday morning I arrived at Generals Cup 2013 at Gator Paintball in Hudson to find a sleeping campground still as it was early in the morning and if I had to guess, everyone was up late Friday night. So I pull into the parking spot that my “partner in crime” saved for me the night before and waited for the Crewe to wake up. The first to wake up was my accomplice and the one who I had intended the prank to be for. As I watched him climb out of his tent and stretch I couldn’t help but wonder what his first reaction would be. Suddenly I see a stare come in my direction and he squints, rubs his eyes and walks closer. Then straight out of left field he flips me the bird, laughs and comes over. He claims he knew something was up but there were less than a handful of people who knew (including the field owner and event promoter). The weekend was full of shenanigans and major bruising, but in the end our side lost and we had a blast doing so. Saturday’s team meal was at Hooters in Spring Hill just as I had wanted. The wife and I generally frequent the Clearwater Hooters and refer to it as “Our Hooters” as it’s our favorite out of them all. The weekend was long, but worth it in the end as the Wrecking Crewe took home two awards, one of which was from our opposing team which I consider to be the highest honor of the weekend. The team also had three individuals highlighted for individual achievements. All in all I’d say the weekend was a total success. The team had its first event, took home a few awards, but we also let the paintball world know we may be the new kids on the block, and we are a force to be reckoned with and now appear on everyone’s radar.

Crewe 2

What was your best prank ever? Did it turn out as you planned?

Little White Lie

This weekend I’ve played a little prank on the Wrecking Crewe which all started with a little white lie. It all started about 2 months ago when the Crewe started planning to play General’s Cup 2013, a two day scenario game our side dominated for the most part last year. Our team last year consisted of eleven players on our team plus a decent number from another team which joined the side we played on. This year as the game grew so did the North as they are anticipating 150 players per side (North vs. South). The Wrecking Crewe is our current team and consist of three smaller teams of dedicated players whose combined years of playing totals well over thirty years. So as I’m sitting here posting I’ve already packed my truck, tuned my guns and iced the cooler for a fun filled weekend. So, why did I decide to prank them you may ask and I honestly only have this to say “Because I can”. It’s been hard to keep it secret especially with having to register to lock in the better pricing on paint. As time grew closer I had to involve the promoter and field owner who helped reinforce the fact that I hadn’t registered. One of my other accomplices from the team knew from the get go as we were having our new jerseys printed and I wanted to make sure mine made it to the field for game day. I will say part of me wanted to give in and show up Friday night as we normally do a big team dinner, which can be fun and sometimes a bit embarrassing at times. My plan all along has been to leave out of Clearwater at 6:00am and head up to Hudson, which should put me there right as their waking up. The goal is to be sitting there on the back of my truck when the roll out of their tents in full gear and ready to play. Saturday night will be fun as I’ll have to make them take me out for dinner; maybe Hooters would be in order (Hint Hint). Stay tuned to check out my next post to see how the prank turned out and most importantly who won the big game.

Have you ever had to tell a little white lie to pull off a prank? How did it turn out for you?

Land of Confusion

If I could sum up my life this past week “Land of Confusion” would pretty much tell it all. With everything needing extra attention and time I never even had enough time to blog. The week held many twists and turns that would prove to test me both physically and mentally. The week started off with a bang as it’s the end of the quarter and that means quarterly review time. While I went into it knowing full well what to expect, this was the one and only item that didn’t throw me for a loop.

Wednesday the wife and I went to the Memorial Causeway to continue her training for her upcoming half marathon next weekend. Confusion seemed to set in as I was barely able to complete the same route that I’ve been doing forever. The past few weeks show continuous progress for both of us, yet I feel as if I’m going backwards with the way I felt this past week of running.

Next up on the confusion hit list is my weight. I’ve been on what feels like a rollercoaster for the past few months. The constant ups and downs have really started to take a toll on me as it’s slowly starting to kill my motivation. I have no idea as to why this is happening , but I feel as if some sort of change needs to happen in order to help break this vicious cycle I appear to be in with my weight.

The last item on my list is paintball, see I haven’t been able to play for almost two months now and I was able to go Saturday to play which proved to be fun. Plagued by chronic problems from a simple O-ring to a non-functional marker where the highlights of my weekend. Don’t get me wrong I was still able to have fun, but now I find myself sitting here now needing to perform repairs. I’m sure it’ll take an hour or so to perform the repairs, but still an hour of time I could be doing so many other things.

What was the worst week you’ve ever had? What made it so bad?

Chasing down a dream

Everyone has their dream they’d like to accomplish in life. Well, for one person I know their dream is to be the best at what he wants to do with his life and that’s graphic design. He’s able to do anything from simple flyer design all the way up to designing custom paintball jerseys and everything in between. I’ve spoken with Trevis of Trevis Meseroll Designs for about a year now and had the pleasure of a face-to-face meeting with him in late October of 2012. He was down visiting family and was also here to watch what very well could be his favorite sport, paintball. What made this event extra special for him was that he won a contest designing a shirt for G.I. Sports, which was yet another of his many accomplishments he’s been able to achieve since he started in 2009. We watched our favorite professional team, Tampa Bay Damage, play and spoke of many things. I learned many things about him that day and I’ll share with you. If I could choose only one word to describe Trevis, it would have to be passionate. It’s clear in his designs that he truly loves what he does and continuously strives to reach for the stars in all that he designs.

What dreams are you currently chasing? What will you do to help make them happen?
