While sitting here blogging listening to my music I couldn’t help but have certain songs bring back memories or even remind me of movies. My playlist is quite extensive… I’ll go thru my top 5 and explain what memories they bring back to me.

1: J Geils Band — Love Stinks. People may feel this is a weird one to remember but it always makes me want to watch “The Wedding Singer”. This is actually the movie the wife and I watched on our first date so it will always hold that special memory.

2: Kid Rock —- Cowboy. I don’t know what it is about this song but every time I hear it I just want to break out the Ready to Rumble DVD. I know it’s not on the top of everyone’s list of great movies, but for me I love it for some reason. It must be due to the fact that it’s about wrestling.

3: Kenny Loggins —- I’m alright. Every time I hear this song I’m reminded of that little dancing gopher in Caddy Shack. While the dancing gopher was only a small role in the movie if you ask anyone if they’ve seen Caddy Shack they’ll immediately think of that cute gopher and all the havoc he reigned on Bill Murray’s character.

4: Alabama —– Mountain Music. Every time I hear this song it brings me back to the times I used to spend with my Grandparents on their farm in Pennsylvania and the fun times we all had. While 3 of my 4 grandparents are deceased the memories always live on and always remind me of my roots.

5: Brooks and Dunn —- My Maria. This song brings me back to the days when I worked at Q105 when it was country. I’d spend many nights at the Round Up and every time this song played one of the guys would just sit there and play the air guitar and sing it. While these days have long passed I can still envision him standing in the middle of the Round Up just belting out the lyrics and strumming that air guitar for all to see.

While I could go on for hours about what meanings and memories songs bring back these are the top 5 that seem to pop up the most for me. Whether it’s from listing to my music library, the radio, or even seeing the movies pop up on the movie schedule they always seem to bring back memories of the fun times of the past.
