Time for some new toys

November is closing in fast and we all know what that means…… it’s new toy time. Not only do we all flock to NXL World Cup across from Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida November 3-6 2016 for some good old fun in the sun while watching our favorite teams fight it out for the gold, but we get to visit some our favorite vendors to see some familiar faces while checking out some new toys.

NXL World Cup is always the best place to get rid of a few old toys and possibly find a few new ones in the process. Some of my most prized possessions have been acquired while there in the previous years. So what am I looking forward to this year at NXL World Cup you may ask. I’ll list them out below, in no particular order.

Valken – I’m most looking forward to trying to catch up with Gino or Andy. I’ve missed meeting them over the past years but plan on making it my mission to catch up with them and see what Valken deals are to be had.

Ninja – No matter what I always stop in to see Ray and the guys. They always have a few great stories to share and I love checking out what they bring down as far as custom tanks.

Dye – You always have to stop by Dye to check out what Rocky is up to and also drop off a gun or two for them to go through and tech for me. So remember to drop on by and see Rocky……. he’ll give you a few good laughs.

Virtue – Virtue in the past years have always come with a pretty good selection of custom masks, loaders and more. If you don’t see it always ask as they may have it in the back or will build one for you.

Social Paintball – It’s always great to drop in on Israel and see what new items he has up his sleeve or in the works. I may have to check out some of those custom jerseys he’s always showing off as well.

AirUps – While I don’t have much need for bunkers I still plan on dropping in to see what all Brent and the crew from AirUps brought out of the wood works to display. For those not familiar with their work you need to go check them out.

Exalt — Exalt  is always a great one to check out as I can always find a few things there that I’d love to add to the gear bag.

Planet Eclipse – I’m slowly becoming a fan of the Planet Eclipse guns (especially the 3.5 and cs1 models). I’ve never owned one but who knows one day I might.

Bunker King – Another company I don’t know much about but I’m wanting to learn more about their products.

MacDev – While I’m no fan of the MacDev guns, I’ll tell you I do like some of the accessories they put out. I’m still wanting to get my hands on one of their barrel kits so maybe this will be the year for that… who knows.

TBD Crew – it’s no secret I’m a Damage fan so I’ll be out there rooting for my team and hope they do well.

Friends – I saved the best for last. NXL World Cup is always a great place to catch up with old friends and meet some new ones. I’ve made several friends over the years thru paintball and the blog, but always find it a blast to catch up with them. Hopefully I can get some of the Wrecking Crewe guys together to go up and catch up with Team BBK as well. Although now that I think of it, that could be a dangerous combination for NXL World Cup.

The Time is Near ….. PSP World Cup

P4L_logo w TM

The time is near for PSP World Cup at Fantasy of Flight in Polk City, Florida. This time next week I’ll be swarming the vendors to see what free giveaways they have as well as getting to put my hands all over the latest merchandise in the world of paintball. I’ll also get to sit back and watch some of what I predict to be the best matches of the year. While I’m most excited to watch the Pro games I also have a few friends playing in some of the other divisions and I’ll get to watch as well.

I’m most excited about seeing what new products all the paintball vendors are bringing to the table. From what I’ve seen so far I wish I had won the lottery because I’ve seen quite a few new products I’d like to add to my gear bag. While I’m not quite sure where my first stop will be, I plan on at least hitting Dye, Empire, Ninja Paintball, Virtue, Valken as well as GI Sports to check out a few things on my “Christmas Wish list”. What… I’ve been good this year (for the most part).

I’ll also be dropping by Social Paintball to check out some new products as well. If all goes well I may even end up walking away with a new pair of “Grit” paintball pants. From what I’ve seen online I like them so far but I’m much more of a visual person so we shall see. Their booth is all packed with a lot of merchandise and I’ve never gotten out of there without finding something that I’ve been wanting.

Next on my list is a trip to see the guys from Trade My Gun. I met the guys a few years back and I’ve got to tell you they are definitely on my must see agenda. Every year I’ve gone to PSP World Cup I’ve always managed to work out a deal on some gun that I’ve always wanted as well as sell off a few that I rarely use. They guys are always funny and if you catch them at the right time make some really killer deals that you’d never believe.

One of my usual stops is at the Valken tent. I’m usually there to see Kelly and the gang plus check out any new gear as I look for that awesome deal I just can’t pass up. Ninja Paintball is also a must stop so I can check out the 2013 Breast Cancer Awareness tank which I may have to actually purchase this year. I’ve looked them in the years past and always seem to want one.

While I’ll obviously be rooting for Tampa Bay Damage to win I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all the teams that have traveled from both near and far safe travels and the best of luck. Just the fact that you’re there to be a part of one of the biggest events in paintball should be a victory in itself. The win wouldn’t hurt that much either, but making new friends from all over the world. For those who can’t make it you can always follow my Twitter, Facebook, or even Instagram which I’ll include links to below. I’ll try to send out updates and new product pictures all day long, plus any other interesting things that I see happen at PSP World Cup.

Good Luck in Dallas

Anyone who follows my blog knows my team will always be “Tampa Bay Damage”. Well as I’m sitting here posting this blog they’re packing their gear and kissing their loved ones goodbye to board a plane and head to Forney, Texas for the official kick-off of their 2013 PSP season. Back in January all teams started grinding for the 2013 season and I’m hoping it’ll be one hell of a season. While I’ve only been keeping up on professional paintball for the past few years I’ve come to realize it takes a lot for these guys, both physically and mentally to do what they do and continue to do so. I’m sure if you asked any pro player why they do what they do and I‘d bet the answer would be simple “For the love of the game”. Several years ago I would have disagreed with that statement, but the more I play the more I can say it’s true for me. Sure you’ll find those few “Self Promoters” that try to ruin the good times for the others, but they never seem to. I’d like to wish my friends on Tampa Bay Damage the best of luck at the PSP Dallas Open this weekend and safe travels. As you’re taking point after point, closing that gap for 1st place, remember all those who can’t physically be there with you, but are always there cheering for you wherever they may be.

New Beginnings

Back in December I covered some of my New Year’s Resolutions and I’m going to commit to yet another one on this day. Today gave me some insight into my current state of cardio. The wife and I went and ran/walked the Memorial Causeway in preparation for her upcoming Iron Girl Half Marathon next month and boy was it an eye opener for me. I remember three years ago when doing boot camp three times a week I could run from one end to the other but not today. I got about halfway over and had to stop as I was winded and needed a break. I know inclines have the ability to change things but I was totally unprepared for what I ran into this morning. As an individual who plays paintball there are a few key pieces to the puzzle and cardio is definitely one of them. I’ve had several guys from Tampa bay Damage a professional paintball team constantly remind me of this fact on several occasions. Even in their off season they’re constantly training and preparing the next season. I talked about this in January, so I’m committing again right now publically to make more of an effort to improve myself physically and mentally on and off the field for my 2013. I know I’m off to a late start, but after all it’s never too late to start something new.

What New Years Resolutions have you not acted on yet? What’s been holding you back?

Where to begin?

As  PSP World Cup 2012 grows closer I have many questions. One of which is where do I begin? With so much to see and only a few days to do it I feel as if I should devise a plan. On the list of must-sees this year the new Dye DAM (Dye Assault Matrix). I have to say I’m pretty impressed from what I’ve read so far. If I get my hands on one of these bad boys to look at I’ll be sure to post pictures.

Empire, Valken, Virtue Paintball, and Ninja Paintball are all booths I plan to hit up as well. At Ninja Paintball I’m looking for my limited Edition Pink tank (to support breast cancer). I definitely need to keep my eyes on the schedule because at random times they’ll have team signings. I also need to remember I’m there to watch Tampa Bay Damage do their thing (and hopefully win it all).

Random thoughts running thru my mind

I’ve decided to devote today to random thoughts that have been running thru my mind lately. With a million things going thru my head right now I’ll limit it to just a few.

1: Will we ever win the lottery? This one goes thru my mind all the time as I have a dream to build and run my own paintball field. The sad part is I have the location picked out, the store and fields designed in my mind. The only thing stopping me from doing this is the money. Another thing I’d do is donate part of it…… we have a few charities in mind and would definitely spread it around.

2: The wife and I have a special project in mind for the holidays and hope it will become a tradition for many. This one has been at the top of my mind as the holiday season grows closer. I can’t give any details yet but look for a special blog dedicated to it.

3: Will Tampa Bay Damage win World Cup? I know this one may seem silly but I feel for the guys now. They’ve referred to themselves as “Prelim All Stars” as they do great in the Prelims and then seem to fall apart on the day that matters. I wish them the best of luck and would love to see the last set of the season give them the big win.

4: Will I finally find balance between work and home? Those who know me think I’m a work-a-holic and it’s true for the most part. Even when I’m home I’m guilty of thinking about work. I know it’s sad but that’s why I’m trying to create more to do outside of work.

5: Will our family ever be complete? As I sit and play with our niece I wonder one day if we’ll ever have our own. I feel as if I already know the answer to that one but one I’m not quite ready to let go of it yet.

6: will my blog ever take off? I’ve been wondering this as of late. I’m impatient by default and expect things to magically happen overnight. I know deep down it will happen but the impatient side of me wished it would happen overnight. Realistically I’m happy with my progress and plan to continue regardless.

What random thoughts go thru your mind? Have you shared them with anyone lately?

The countdown has begun

As some of you may know my choice of sport is paintball (as if the name itself didn’t give it away). So I believe it was in August I wrote about PSP World Cup of Paintball 2012 coming at the end of October and my countdown has officially begun. I believe this year they estimate there will be about 250 teams from all over the world coming to compete. What does this mean for me? Four days of pro games as well as amateurs, vendors bringing all kinds of product to sell (as well as give away), and the opportunities to meet with several vendors and some of my favorite players I normally wouldn’t have access to.

Screenshot

Vendors from all over will be there displaying all their new products as well as some of their more popular items for people to purchase. Last year I personally got to spend time with Empire, Dye, Ninja and several other companies looking over some amazing products for the New Year. This is also a good time for those who have gear to sell bring it. I mean where else will you have thousands of captive buyers at your disposal. One man’s junk is another’s treasure I’ve always been told and that’s where I picked up one of my guns, which I got a really good deal on.

The games generally go Friday thru Sunday, but they added Thursday this year so we’ll get an extra day of the pros battling it out. In years past I’ve only gone on Saturday and Sunday but I’ve taken almost the entire week off of work. This year I’ll be attending Thursday thru Sunday.

Probably one of the best parts of it all is making new friends and meeting those who share a common interest. Last year we got to meet players as well as fans from several other countries. We all shared good times in the stands watching the pro teams and also shared a little friendly rivalry in the stands while routing for our favorite players/teams.

For who are interested in finding out more about PSP World Cup of Paintball 2012 I’d urge you to go check out their main site here or check out their Facebook page here. The site will give you all the information on where it’s located as well as any events they will be hosting during that time.

What event of the year do you look forward to and why?

Are you ready for some paintball?

For those of you who are into paintball the countdown to PSP World Cup of Paintball 2012 has begun. The time when teams from all around the world come to compete for that first place win. The dates this year are October 25th – 28th at Fantasy of Flight in Auberndale, Florida.  PSP World Cup of Paintball 2011 was my first time experiencing this and I must say I’ve been waiting all year to get the chance to go back. The things I most look forward to are checking out the vendors and what deals they have to offer, seeing what used gear is floating around (there’s always a good deal to be found at Cup), as well as watching my favorite amateur and pro teams play. I’m most looking forward to watching Tampa Bay Damage play. I always get to watch them on the webcast, but this particular event I get to go see them live and in full effect. While everyone you talk to have their own memories of World Cup, the most memorable part of last years for me was being in the stands for that final game when Damage won it all. The excitement that ran through the stands compares to nothing I’ve ever experienced in my life. So once again I’m hopeful my fondest memory of PSP World Cup of Paintball 2012 will be watching Tampa Bay Damage take yet another win at World Cup.

What are some of your fondest memories from World Cup?

What part of World Cup do you look forward to this year?

Rainy Days and Sundays ………

For those who automatically thought of the Carpenters this is my little twist. What was supposed to be an epic 40th Birthday weekend for myself (and 28th for Rachel) our plans were changed by Mother Nature. The plan was for a group of 20 of our friends to go play paintball, which for some was long overdue. Mother Nature threw a slight curve ball at us with a small little storm named “Debby”. The constant rain has flooded the fields and left us stranded at home with no hope of paintball for the day. Well the jokes on her……..as we’ll now be able to watch our favorite professional teams at the PSP Event in Chicago. I know it’s not quite the same as being out there playing but it feeds our need for paintball and we get to spend some time with our families. So what do I do? I’m glued to my computer catching every glimpse of the pro games and watching “Tampa Bay Damage” continue on in hopes of bringing home the PSP win from Chicago, which would be the perfect birthday weekend topper. So now the truth is out, that I’m a Tampa bay Damage fan! I’ll elaborate on their team in future blogs.
