Club Detroit

  • Club Detroit

  • Fozzy

This past week I had the pleasure of going to Club Detroit in Downtown St Pete for my first concert at the venue. While I haven’t been a big fan of St Pete in the past I have to say the changes they’ve made over the years are making it one of my new favorite spots to go. While I’m a huge wrestling Chris Jericho’s band called “Fozzy” was playing Club Detroit so I figured this was my one chance to get up close and see them plus I got was invited by my friend Jesse Kage, who I rarely get to see so how could I refuse. When I first arrived and walked inside the first thing I saw was brick everywhere. Keeping the exposed brick on the inside of the building instead of covering it up adds to the ambiance of the venue and definitely works for the overall experience. The venue holds about 600 which I feel is perfect for a concert without being too packed. I’ve been told back in the day it was one of the hotspots where the likes of Primus, Stone Temple Pilots, The Offspring and even the late River Phoenix’s band Aleka’s Attic played there as well. While the reopening has caught the attention of many people including the local media it’s definitely been the talk of the town. One article that came to mind was one written by Jay Cridlin of the Tampa Bay Times, which covers the history of Club Detroit and the surrounding community. While this was my first concert in the newly revived Club Detroit I must say I was impressed with the overall experience and am looking forward to seeing many more concerts at what I’m sure will become one of St Petersburg’s hottest new venues. photo 1 photo 2 photo 3 photo 5 Has anyone ever been to the Original Club Detroit? What memories do you have if you did?
